Oxford police seek public’s help with Verizon store robbery

Police are seeking help from the public as they look for two armed suspects who robbed a cellphone store Friday afternoon in Oxford at about 3:39 p.m. Friday.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said the robbery involved two men, both armed with Glock 9 mm handguns, who around 3:40 p.m. held up Verizon Wireless, 4965 College Corner Pike.

No one was injured, Oxford police said. The men took products and cash.

Here’s how Oxford police described them: “The suspects are described as black males in their mid-20s. One suspect is described as 5’11” wearing all dark clothing and a black baseball cap. He has white Nike shoes with tie-dyed splashes on the sides and ‘USA’ on the side in light blue letters. The other suspect is described as around 5’9” wearing acid wash jeans with horizontal slits all the way down the front.”

Police asked people who know about the men to call them at 513-524-5240.

The two men, wearing aviator glasses, fled in a black BMW vehicle, Butler County officials said, although Oxford police in its news alert said, “If a vehicle was used for their getaway, we do not have a description.”
