Man tells Hamilton officer, “I’m drunk” at crash scene

A Hamilton man is facing misdemeanor charges after allegedly admitting to driving under the influence at a crash scene.

Officers arrived at an accident scene in the 1500 block of Main Street on May 20 and found Jeffrey Thurman II in the driver’s seat of a wrecked vehicle.

When the Hamilton officer asked Thurman what he was doing, he responded, “I’m drunk,” according to the police report.

Thurman again affirmed he was “drunk” when asked by the officer again. He was then transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital for treatment.

While being transported by wheelchair from one hospital room to another, a hospital employee reported Thurman swung backwards and punched her in the face, according to the report.

The hospital security guard witnessed the strike and tackled Thurman to the ground, according to the report.

Thurman, 28, of the 1300 block of Southern Hills Boulevard, is charged with OVI and misdemeanor assault.

He was scheduled to appear in Hamilton Municipal Court this past week, but did not appear and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest, according to court records.
