Camera catches thieves breaking into 17 cars in West Chester

Majority of the vehicles were unlocked, police say.

A rash of vehicle break-ins in the same neighborhood is being investigated by the West Chester Police Department.

Around 2 a.m. Tuesday, two white males reportedly broke into 17 different vehicles in the Cinnamon Woods subdivision off of Hamilton Mason Road, said Officer Michelle Berling.

A house in the neighborhood did pick up images of the two males on a surveillance camera.

The police are asking anyone with information on the crimes or who can identify the suspects to call the West Chester Police Department’s Crime Hotline at 513-759-7272.

Of the 17 vehicles broken into, 15 were unlocked and the two with broken windows had purses left in plain sight, Berling said.

The car thefts happened on a number of streets including Cinnamon Woods Drive, Quail Run Drive, Whitehall Circle and Senour Drive, according to police reports.

Items stolen include a pair of Oakley sunglasses, a number of purses and backpacks, a diaper bag, diapers, DVD player, gift cards and loose change, according to police reports.

Berling said whether a vehicle is left unlocked or not, all valuables should be removed when you leave your vehicle.
