Coronavirus: What’s reopening this week in Ohio

Ohio is beginning to reopen after many businesses closed down to prevent the spread of coronavirus. This week begins a reopening process that Gov. Mike DeWine has called Responsible Restart Ohio.

Open businesses are required to follow protocols outlined by the Ohio Department of Health. Employees are required to wear masks, practice good hygiene, conduct daily health assessments, thoroughly clean and sanitize workplaces and limit their capacity to ensure employees and patrons can practice safe social distancing.

Coronavirus: Complete coverage

Here’s what’s reopening in Ohio this week:

Tuesday, May 12: Retail stores can reopen. Employees must follow social distancing practices, wear masks and follow the guidelines outlined by Ohio Department of Health Dr. Amy Acton's order.

Friday, May 15: Barbers, nail salons, day spas, tanning facilities, hair salons, tattoo and piercing parlors, massage therapy, acupuncture and cosmetic therapy businesses will reopen and restaurants will be allowed to host outdoor dining. Clients will only be permitted to enter alone unless they require a caregiver. Magazines and other non-essential items that cannot be disinfected will not be permitted.
Restaurants should not host parties larger than 10 people and the parties must be seated six feet apart from each other. Salad bars and self-serve options are only permitted if served by staff. Restaurants are permitted to reopen indoor dining on Thursday, May 21.

Massage therapy, acupuncture and cosmetic therapy businesses must follow social distancing practices and continually sanitize equipment. Workers should not see a client at the client’s unless they have their own linens and all lubricant packages are disposable. If working out of a home office, the worker should limit clients to the office and not allow them throughout the rest of the house.
