Butler County United Way campaign beating last year’s donations

Butler County United Way has $29,000 more to raise by the end of its month to meet this year’s budgeted goal of about $1.84 million, according to the nonprofit.

The stretch goal is to reach $2 million.

Compared to how much money the campaign raised at this point last year, donations are up approximately 8.6 percent, according to the county United Way, which serves Hamilton, West Chester Twp., Fairfield, Liberty Twp., Ross Twp. and New Miami.

Donors contributed about $1.7 million total last year, according to the group.

Even though campaign organizers try to collect donations or get commitments by the end of the year, any dollars given to the organization through the end of March count towards the $2 million effort, officials said.

Money raised by Butler County United Way funded 35 programs related to education, income stability and healthy lives of area residents during the current budget year that began July 1. Organizations that receive funding include Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Butler County, LifeSpan Inc., Great Miami Valley YMCA and more.
