Bicyclist struck by SUV in Fairfield Twp. intersection

Fairfield Twp. police cited an 18-year-old woman after her SUV struck a person on a bicycle at Liberty-Fairfield Road and Ohio 4 on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old Fairfield Twp. man was riding his bicycle south on Liberty-Fairfield Road at the intersection with Ohio 4 when a 2017 Chevy Equinox driven by the Hamilton woman was turning left onto Ohio 4 from northbound Liberty-Fairfield Road. The incident happened at about 11:50 a.m.

Fairfield Twp. police Detective Sgt. Jamie Mays said the victim and his bicycle “flew up in the air” when he and the bicycle were struck by the SUV.

The victim was transported to West Chester Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Mays said. He said the victim was conscious and alert at the scene. The driver was cited for failure to yield.

The Journal-News has contacted West Chester Hospital to find out the victim’s condition.
