Lisa Nueslein, the shop's owner, said the store will fill a gap.

"We don't have one (a men's store) in the area, and I thought it would be a good time to do it," Nueslein, also the owner of nearby Wild Poppy boutique, said. "It's the perfect location."

The shop is named for Nueslein’s father James (Jim) GILBERT III.

Gilbert, a member of PGA of America and the head golf professional at Dayton Country Club from 1965-1997, died March 29 , 2011 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

He was 73.

“He was very special,” Nueslein, who has a long history in retail, said. “I always loved (his) name.”

She opened Wild Poppy in June 2016.  It sells home decor and women’s clothing.

J. Gilbert’s will sell weekend wear and other apparel.
