Michael B. Jordan offers to replace fan’s retainer after viral story

Eric Killmonger might be a villain, but Michael B. Jordan is willing to take responsibility for his actions — which, in a roundabout way, includes breaking one fan’s retainer.

The story first got attention on Tumblr, where an orthodontist shared the story of a young girl who was “thirsting so goddamn hard she busted steel” in her retainer during the scene in “Black Panther” where Jordan takes off his shirt.

That anecdote migrated to Twitter, where Sophia Robb, the girl in question, found the story. “Wait. That girl is me. That is my orthodontist’s tumblr. This is a post about me?” she tweeted, following up to call her orthodontist “the chillest person.”

Robb’s tweets went viral — viral enough to catch the eye of her hero (or villain, depending on how you look at it). Jordan followed Robb on Twitter and responded to her via direct message (leading Robb to tweet, “this is the best day of my life”). He also chimed in on his own page, offering to replace the retainer like a true gentleman.

Speaking to BuzzFeed, Robb said, “I think people who are like ‘you exposed yourself’ are hilarious because of course I did! It’s a funny story and I’m not embarrassed about it. If anything, it speaks to how great of a movie Black Panther is.” However, the story might have one unintended consequence, as far as her reputation goes.
