FAIRFIELD – Art in Motion School of Dance will return to the Fairfield Community Arts Center Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 to present “Take Me to a Show,” an annual spring dance recital featuring dancers ages 2 to 19.
Four shows are scheduled with two shows on Saturday, June 13 at noon and 3:30 p.m., and two shows on Sunday, June 14 with performances at 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The show will showcase a variety of dance styles that students are taught at the school, including jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, lyrical, pointe, musical theatre, creative movement, tumbling and more, said Andrea Dotson of Hamilton, owner and artistic director of Art in Motion School of Dance.
“This is more of a red carpet kind of a theme,” Dotson said. “We have more Broadway music styles and styles of dancing that will be in this show.”
For example, one of our dance numbers is from the musical “Chicago,” she said.
About 150 dancers are expected to participate. Each program will feature a mix of ages and dance styles from both competition and recreational dancers. Every year, the studio hosts a winter recital in December and a spring recital in June. The production attracts audiences from Hamilton, Oxford, Fairfield, Trenton, West Chester and beyond.
“I am pretty excited, because we are still growing in our numbers. This spring dance recital is the first time we are doing four shows,” Dotson said. “I’m anxious to see everyone’s hard work and the students that have been with our studio since the beginning. We are thrilled to be able to bring the show to the community.”
The studio has been open for four years and has quickly grown. With each class, Dotson said, students are able to improve their technique and gain greater confidence.
Tickets for the show are $12 each and may be purchased at www.fairfield-city.org, or by calling the Parks & Recreation Department at (513) 867-5348. Fairfield Community Arts Center is located at 411 Wessel Dr. in Fairfield. Ticket sales are final. No refund or exchange.
