Fans of Ohio State Buckeyes lash out at kicker Tyler Durbin

After missing two field goals in Fiesta Bowl, kicker receives hate mail

Members of Ohio State’s special teams unit shared two pieces of hate mail kicker Tyler Durbin received after the team’s 31-0 loss to Clemson on Saturday in the Fiesta Bowl.

The BuckSpecialists Twitter account posted screen grabs of both expletive-laden emails (warning: graphic language) with a two-word title over the images: "Stay classy."

The first email starts with: “Please don’t come back to Columbus. Stay in Arizona.”

Among other things, the second email reads, “I hope you aren’t getting a scholarship.”

Punter Cameron Johnston supported Durbin on Twitter, writing, “I'm sorry but there is no place for this. Whoever sent this to tyler needs to be ashamed.”

Kicker Sean Nuernberger wrote, “Unbelievable. Hard to believe an adult could say these things. “

Fans reacted to the Tweet by supporting Durbin, who missed two 47-yard field goals in the first half.
