A historic interpreter roasts the nuts in an iron dish over a roaring fire in the cozy 1815 home of William Morris. A cone of roasted chestnuts is $3.
Gingerbread cookies, prepared in an 1817 summer kitchen, are also available for $2. The historical recipe came from an 1845 cookbook titled “The New England Economical Housekeeper.”
