"Our first school is finished and I can't tell you how proud and excited I am to see it open on Wednesday," she wrote in a Monday Instagram post. "Thank you to my amazing partner Ruben for everything. Especially for fighting to name the school after my dad."
The 18-year-old immediately left the African country, where "Entertainment Tonight" reported she works on multiple education initiatives, and rushed home to Los Angeles upon learning that her father had a massive stroke Feb. 27. He died less than a week later, on March 4.
Sophie Perry also thanked donors for contributing to a GoFundMe page that will support her volunteer work helping to develop preschools in rural areas of the town.
