CBS, Warner Bros. announce final season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’

“The Big Bang Theory” is coming to an end. 

CBS, Warner Bros. TV and Chuck Lorre Productions made the announcement in a joint statement Wednesday. 

The Big Bang Theory” season 12 will be the next and final season of the hit series. It will be the longest-running, multicamera comedy series in TV history, according to Warner Brothers

It has received 52 Emmy nominations with 10 wins as it comes to an end. The main cast, including Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco, will return for the last season, E! News reported

Hours before the announcement, Mayim Bialik, who plays Amy, posted a cast photo as they began the first taping of season 12.

The show’s executive producer, Bill Prady, posted to Twitter after the announcement, calling the cast his family and the show a labor of love.

The final season will begin airing on Monday, Sept. 24, at 8 p.m. but will move to Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Sept 27.
