Historic Golden Lamb wants to add outside dining with new addition

The owners of the Golden Lamb Inn want to add a veranda and addition to the non-original part of the building constructed more than 200 years ago.

“The Golden Lamb is the oldest Inn in the State of Ohio,” according to materials filed with the application for the changes.

The Lebanon Planning Commission is to consider approving the project at a meeting at 7 p.m. today at Lebanon City Hall, 50 S. Broadway, across the street from the inn.

“Project would include removal of the 1964 exterior steps and modification to the 1964 facade to accommodate a new brick-clad entry vestibule providing access to the first floor and basement and an elevated veranda for outdoor dining,” according to staff comments prepared for the planning commission.

The building, constructed about 1815 in the Federal style, is in the city’s historic district, so the project is subject to review by the planning commission.

“This work will continue the evolution of the building in a historically sensitive way and enhance the connection to the adjacent park and streetscape,” according to the application by Manager Bill Kilimnik.
