GE Aviation secures $80M engine contract

One of the region’s largest employers has won a defense contract valued at up to nearly $80 million to support aircraft engine production for the U.S. and Egyptian air forces.

GE Aviation in Evendale has been awarded a maximum $79,702,840 contract for support of the F110-GE-100 aircraft engine, according to the Department of Defense.

GE developed the F110-GE-100 engine for F-16 Fighting Falcon jets.

This is a four-year base contract with a one-year option, the department said.

Work will be performed in Kansas and Texas through May 2023. The work involves foreign military sales to the Egyptian Air Force, the DoD also said.

The appropriation is for fiscal years 2019 through 2023. The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Aviation in Richmond, Va.
