Airline adds new flight service to Las Vegas from CVG

Low-cost airline Allegiant Travel Co. on Tuesday announced a new nonstop flight from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport to Las Vegas beginning Dec. 18.

Flights bound for Las Vegas McCarran International Airport will be offered twice weekly, according to the airline.

The Cincinnati-area airport averages one of the highest airfares in the country, but Allegiant says its new flight plans offer a low-cost alternative for travelers. Las Vegas round-trip ticket prices will be offered for $81 for a limited time, Allegiant officials say.

“Allegiant is thrilled to announce an additional vacation destination for Cincinnati residents,” said Andrew Levy, Allegiant president and chief operating officer, in a statement.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant first started offering flights at CVG earlier in 2014.

“We are thrilled Allegiant is expanding their service from CVG to Las Vegas,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer of the Cincinnati airport, in a statement. “Las Vegas is the seventh market served by Allegiant out of CVG. Since February, Allegiant has increased from four flights per week to 20 flights per week, continuing the trend of CVG being the fastest growing origination market in Allegiant’s 15 year history.”

Allegiant also has flights to Orlando, Punta Gorda, Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg and seasonal service to Myrtle Beach. Officials said flights to Fort Lauderdale will start on Oct. 9 and service to Phoenix/Mesa starts Nov. 14.
