Pension fund to put financial records online

Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel announced Thursday that the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund will be the first public retirement system in the nation to put its finances online.

OP&F agreed to publish "transaction level" details on OhioCheckbook.com, a transparency website established, promoted and run by Mandel's office.

Mandel has been pushing all five public pension systems as well as public universities and local governments to add their data. Mandel launched the searchable website in December 2014 with seven years of state expenditures. More than 100 local governments added their data last month.

OhioCheckbook.com allows searching of more than 130 million transactions that involve more than $473 billion in government spending. Since the website launch, more than 325,000 searches have been conducted.
