There are hundreds of candidates and issues on the November ballot. There are also some local candidate events and events tied to the state marijuana issue to help inform voters. Here’s a look at some coming up in our area.

Tuesday night there is the Dayton election forum, at 6 p.m., Black Box Improv Theatre, 518 E. Third St., Dayton. This event will focus on the Dayton City Commission race and the marijuana issue on the November ballot. The four candidates running for two seats on the commission are Darryl Fairchild, Matt Joseph, Chris Shaw and Scott Sliver. The UpDayton forum will also have a discussion of the marijuana issue on the ballot. The event is sponsored by UpDayton and moderated by the League of Women Voters. Doors open at 5:30 for networking. Some snacks and refreshments will be served. Here's a link to the Facebook invitation for the event. Learn more about all of the candidates and issues on the ballot in our fall election guide.

Oct. 22: A community forum to discuss the marijuana issue will be at Main Elementary School at 2942 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek at 7 p.m. The forum is sponsored by Soin Medical Center and Cedarville University. Panelists include Janet Neal, DNP, RN, assistant professor of nursing from Cedarville University's School of Nursing, Mark Pinkerton, MD, assistant professor of pharmacy practice from Cedarville's School of Pharmacy, and Mike DeWine, Ohio's Attorney General. According to a release, "a fourth panelist, ideally from ResponsibleOhio or a similar organization, is hoped to be added for the forum."
