Some interesting notes about the Battle of Ohio

Here are some notes about the Battle of Ohio that even the most rabid Bengals and Browns may not be aware of:

• The Bengals lead the series 43-38, including 27-14 as the home team.

• The most recent meeting between the teams was in Week 11, 2013, when the Bengals overcame a 13-0 deficit to win 41-20 at Paul Brown Stadium. Tony Dye scored on a Jayson DiManche blocked punt and Vontaze Burfict returned an interception 13 yards for a score to highlight a stretch of 31 unanswered points.

• A win today would give the Bengals a six-game lead in the overall series, which would be the largest by either team since the rivalry began.

• The first-ever meeting between the two teams was a preseason game in 1970, with the Bengals prevailing 31-24 in the second game they ever played at Riverfront Stadium.

• Tonight will mark the first time the Bengals and Browns have met in primetime since Sept. 25, 1989, when Cincinnati won 21-14 at Riverfront Stadium on Monday Night Football.

• Cleveland head coaches are 5-9 when facing the Bengals for the first time, with the winners being Blanton Collier (1970), Nick Skorich (1971), Sam Rutigliano (1978), Bill Belichick (1991) and Rob Chudzinski (2013).
