Sanu welcomed his first son to the world Friday at 3:48 a.m.
“It’s awesome. It’s one of the best feelings in the world,” Sanu said. “Nothing compares to this feeling. Just to see him come out and look at him and he’s looking back at you. It’s just unbelievable.”
The 7-pound, 11-ounce Mohamed Assin Sanu Jr. got his dad’s name but his own birthday, one day before Mohamed Sr., who turned 26 Saturday.
Sanu missed practice Friday but was back at Paul Brown Stadium for Saturday’s walk-through, even though the coaches likely would have excused him for a second day in a row.
“I wanted to get back around the guys and let them know we’re in this for the long run,” Sanu said. “It was special to me to be there and see him being brought into the world and be around him. But I owe it to these guys as well.”
Sanu will make the trip to Tampa for Monday night’s game against the Buccaneers, and he’ll be looking to bring back something special for his son.
“My next touchdown (ball) is going to him,” Sanu said.
