Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton left Saturday night’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears with a first-quarter neck injury.

Dalton led the Bengals on a 16-play, 77-yard touchdown drive to open the game. Dalton scored on a 1-yard plunge on fourth and goal. It was his third rush of the game after escaping the pocket for an 8-yard gain and picking up 7 yards on a read option.

He also completed 6 of 6 passes for 52 yards, connecting with five different receivers.

The injury did not appear to be serious as Dalton stayed on the sideline instead of going into the locker room for treatment.

Marvin Lewis said at halftime that Dalton's removal was "precautionary" and that he is fine.

AJ McCarron took over at quarterback for the second offensive series. McCarron led two touchdown drives, going 6 for 6 for 87 yards, including a 31-yard touchdown pass to Marvin Jones.
