Burfict makes first appearance at camp

Injured linebacker Vontaze Burfict made his first appearance at training camp Monday, working on the side rehab field before watching some of the team drills from the sideline.

Defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said it’s another positive step toward getting the Pro Bowler back.

“He’s progressing good,” defensive coordinator Paul Guenther said. “He’s doing everything the trainers are asking him to do. Just like the defense, he’s got to put one day on top of another on top of another and when he’s out here, it adds a whole new element to our defense for sure. When he’s ready to go, he’ll be ready to go.”

Burfict played just five games in 2014 due to a knee injury that led to two surgeries, an arthroscopic scope in October and a microfracture procedure in January.
