Bengals end Marvin Jones' season among other moves

The Cincinnati Bengals placed wide receiver Marvin Jones on season-ending Injured Reserve today and signed former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Greg Little. The Bengals also signed wide receiver Cobi Hamilton, the team's sixth-round pick in 2013, to the practice squad and released wide receiver Colin Lockett from the practice squad.

Jones has been injury riddled since the end of the last season, suffering an offseason ankle injury that forced him to miss the first two weeks of training camp. Then in his first practice back, Jones broke his foot. He returned to the practice field during the bye week and promptly re-injured his ankle.

A fifth-round pick in 2012, Jones missed five games as a rookie with a knee injury. He had a breakout year in 2013, catching 51 passes for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns and was listed as the starter opposite A.J. Green heading into training camp.

Little is a fourth-year player who played every game for the Cleveland Browns from 2011-13, amassing 155 receptions for 1,821 yards eight touchdowns. A second-round pick in 2011, Little led Cleveland in receptions in 2011 (61) and 2012 (53).

He was with Oakland for training camp this summer and appeared in all four preseason games for the Raiders but was waived Aug. 30.Hamilton impressed Bengals coaches with his size and speed but struggled with drops as a rookie and again this past offseason. He spent 2013 on the Bengals practice squad and recently was waived from the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad. The Bengals also released linebacker Khairi Fortt on Tuesday. Fortt had just signed with the team last Tuesday but was inactive for Sunday's 37-37 tie against Carolina.Today's moves leave the Bengals active roster at 52, one shy of the limit.
