“The Bengals have never had any issues regarding prescriptions/controlled substances,” the team said in a statement. “We have a highly rated medical staff that handles these matters with concern for proper and legal practices. Any issues which might be present elsewhere are not present with our organization.”
The Associated Press reported the DEA conducted multiple checks on visiting teams as part of a broader probe following claims by former players that NFL teams have been mishandling prescription drugs.
Other teams stopped Sunday included the San Francisco 49ers, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks, all of whom played road games.
