First Historic Snow, Now Northeast Hit By Freezing Rain

Despite the efforts of state and local highway crews, many roads remain narrow and in some cases impassable because of the weekend's record snowfall. Freezing rain that began to fall Monday morning made the morning commute even more tenuous. I-91 in North Haven was closed briefly because of the ice, and there was a jackknifed tractor trailer on I-91 in Wallingford. In Hartford, main arteries are passable, but entire lanes remain covered with deep snow.
