The Browns broke a 13-13 tie with a blocked punt for a touchdown late in the third quarter, then 107 seconds later Eric Metcalf returned a Lee Johnson punt 73 yards for a score as Cleveland scored the game’s final 27 points to drop the Bengals to 0-7.
Oct. 23, 1988 – Cincinnati Bengals 44, Houston Oilers 21 at Riverfront Stadium
The Bengals scored a franchise-record 28 first-quarter points on the way to a rout that saw James Brooks run for 102 yards and three touchdowns while Ickey Woods added 40 yards and two scores to up the team’s record to 7-1.
Oct. 23, 1983 – Cincinnati Bengals 28, Cleveland Browns 21 at Riverfront Stadium
Ken Riley snapped a 21-21 tie when he intercepted Brian Sipe pass and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown with 5:37 remaining to help the Bengals snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 2-6.
Oct. 23, 1977 – Denver Broncos 24, Cincinnati Bengals 13 at Riverfront Stadium
Eighty-one of Denver quarterback Craig Morton’s 108 passing yards came on a touchdown pass to Jack Dolbin to break a 10-10 tie right before halftime, and the Broncos went on to raise their record to 6-0 en route to a berth in Super Bowl XII.
