H.S. Results for 12/5/16: Springboro rallies, tops Alter in OT

Springboro’s girls basketball team trailed by nine points in the third quarter and by seven in the fourth, but rallied to edge Alter, 59-58, in overtime Monday night.

Sophomore Jordan Diehl’s buzzer-beating driving layup at the end of regulation time tied the score at 53-53. Lauren Thomas then scored six of her 12 points in overtime, including the decisive 15-foot jump shot with 25 seconds to play.

Haylie Crouch also scored 12 points for Springboro (3-1). Braxtin Miller of Alter (2-1) led all scorers with 18.

Girls Basketball

Beavercreek 45, Lakota East 25: Keaira Youngblood scored 11 points as Beavercreek improved to 3-1.

Benjamin Logan 58, Triad 33: Nikkie Current's 27 points and 30 Triad turnovers helped Benjamin Logan (1-3) to its first win of the season.

Chaminade Julienne 64, Wilmington 62: Chaminade (3-2) trailed until the final minute before rallying to nip Wilmington (2-1). Staci Greene scored 20 points for Chaminade. Mya Jackson had 30 for Wilmington, which led, 16-5, after the first quarter.

Franklin-Monroe 50, Dixie 40: Corina Conley's 17 points and 12 rebounds led the way for Franklin-Monroe. Mckinlee Ruppert scored 19 points, but Dixie fell to 1-4.

Milton-Union 52, Brookville 35: Milton-Union broke open a close game with a 23-7 third quarter. Kristen Dickinson led Milton-Union with 16 points. Olivia Brown had 11 rebounds and Taylor Jacobs seven assists. Katlin Pistone topped Brookville with 13 points.

Russia 64, Newton 41: Marian Herron drained five 3-point goals and scored 21 points as Russia (4-1) handed Newton (3-1) its first loss.

Stebbins 78, Franklin 64: Layne Ferrell scored 28 points for Franklin, but Stebbins won with a big third quarter (25-12).

Talawanda 51, Badin 50: The last of Emma Wright's game-high 21 points, a rebound bucket with 2.2 seconds to play, lifted Talawanda (2-1) over Badin (2-2).

Tecumseh 73, Xenia 43: Corinne Thomas scored 25 points for unbeaten Tecumseh (3-0). Allison Berner contributed 14 rebounds and seven assists and Presley Griffitts had 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Twin Valley South 55, Jefferson 45: Junior guard Mylan Crews had 14 of Twin Valley South's school-record-tying 26 steals. Kelsie Shafer led South (2-2) with 16 points.

Valley View 63, Stivers 38: Hunter Stidham's 20 points led Valley View. Emily Fletcher contributed 15 points and 12 rebounds for Stivers, Korryn Millerton 10 points and 11 rebounds.
