H.S. Results for 3/25: Baseball, softball teams kick off season

Freshman pitcher Baylee Petry picked up a pair of wins to help the Greenville softball team start the season 2-0 in doubleheader action on Saturday.

Petry had two doubles and drove in four, Alli Hill had a double and 3 RBI and Morgan Gilbert hit a home run in a 13-3 win over Wayne.

Greenville dropped Milton-Union 3-0 in the second game, with Cassie Cromwell hitting a solo home run.

Softball

Miamisburg 19, Carroll 0: Aubrey Azbill struck out ten in a two-hit shutout and Akshatha Bharadwaj clobbered a three-run homer for Miamisburg.

Miamisburg 13, Carroll 2: Hannah Wright picked up her first career win and Carrina Butler went 3-for-3 with three RBI for ‘Burg.

Hamilton 13, St. Ursula 1: Mya Halcomb went 3-for-4 including a grand slam and seven RBI to lead Hamilton.

Northeastern 7, Tecumseh 4: Kate Miller went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Harley McCombs also scored twice for Northeastern. Ashley Fite was 4-for-4 with a home run for Tecumseh.

Tecumseh 11, Northeastern 10: Ashley Fite finished 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run and Anna Dewitt, McKenzie Drews and Nina Smith also homered for Tecumseh. Lanie Waugh had a home run for Northeastern.

Riverside 19, Urbana 1: Lauren Anderson and Shelby Giles each homered and Giles earned the win on the mound for Riverside.

Riverside 17, Urbana 3: Marissa Davis went 3-for-4 with a home run and five RBI and Kristin Davidson was 3-for-5 with five RBI for Riverside.

Monroe 15, Northridge 0: Faith Hensley tripled and homered and Alexis Arnold went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Monroe.

Monroe 11, Northridge 1: Faith Hensley went 3-for-5 with a home run and a double and Sarah Eschmeyer and Sam Key each had a pair of hits and an RBI for Monroe.

Southeastern 8, Bellbrook 0: Logan McFann notched the win and struck out eight, Maddy McKee was 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBI and Leslie Flores was 2-for-4 with a triple to lead Southeastern.

Covington 10, Valley View 0: Kara Schaffer plated a pair of runs and Lexie Long tossed a two-hit shutout for Covington.

Covington 12, Valley View 0: Emma Dammeyer allowed three hits in a complete-game shutout. Dammeyer, Sarah Hubbard and Ashley Cecil each had multiple hits for Covington.

Tri-Village 12, Preble Shawnee 11: Trisa Porter plated three runs and Kley Murphy and Shelby Holzapfel put in a pair each to lead Tri-Village.

Tri-Village 7, Preble Shawnee 4: Shelby Holzapfel knocked in two runs and Allie Downing, Danika Mann and Andi Bietry each drove in one for TV.

Arcanum 18, Fort Recovery 1: Elle Siculan struck out seven and picked up the win. MacKenzie Sharritts pounded out three hits and Shai Robinson had two.

Arcanum 13, Fort Recovery 2: MacKenzie Sharritts doubled twice to lead Arcanum.

Mississinawa Valley 18, Botkins 6: Paxton Scholl struck out 12 over seven innings for Mississinawa.

Baseball

Centerville 3, Elder 2: Jake Whisman singled in a run and Morgan Colopy singled in two as Centerville pushed across three runs in the first inning then held on for the victory. Joey Hecht struck out six to earn the win and Nick Hoffmann picked up the save.

Springboro 6, Piqua 2: ‘Boro pulled away late, with Cameron Rountree and Ethan Brickner driving in a pair of runs apiece.

Wayne 3, Sidney 2: Tyler Wynkoop scattered three hits over seven innings and struck out ten to lead Wayne.

Sidney 4, Wayne 3: Dillon King delivered a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth to split the DH.

West Carrollton 7, Miami East 2: Tre Nixon tossed a complete game, striking out eight, and Alex Smith went 2-for-3 with two RBI for WC. Miami East took the first game of the DH 11-5.

Lakota East 4, Springfield 2: ‘East rallied from an early 2-0 deficit for the win. Jacob Owens went 2-for-3 to lead the way. Nate McGlothlin had a double for Springfield.

Fairfield 12, Bardstown 2: Nolan McWhorter went 2-for-4 with three RBI and Will Kramer and Matt Seibert drove in two runs apiece for Fairfield.

Hamilton 6, Edgewood 3: Jake Pennington tossed a complete game and Eric Roberts went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three RBI. Drew Reckart homered for Edgewood.

Carroll 9, Brookville 8: Donovan Martinez singled to score the tying run and Johnny Adkins scored the winning run to help Carroll win in walk-off fashion. Carroll took the second game of the DH 7-2.

Ross 13, Indian Hill 0: Thomas House punched out 13 in five innings and Tyler Flick was 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead Ross.

Ross 8, Clinton-Massie 1: Tyler Flick, Zach Evans and Zach Arno all went 2-for-3 at the plate for Ross.

Spg. Shawnee 14, Greeneview 0: Cade Rybolt struck out eight in a no-hitter and Andrew Hubbard had a pair of doubles for Shawnee.

Spg. Shawnee 20, Greeneview 1: Tanner Vanvelzor had a grand slam and finished with six RBI to lead Shawnee.

Tecumseh 11, Northeastern 1: Reid Hale struck out eight and Jayden McFarland went 2-for-3 with a home run for Tecumseh.

West Liberty-Salem 16, Franklin Christian 7: Chase Humphrey had an RBI double, Levi Moell was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Tyler Louden, Brandon Orahood and Trevor Biden all had hits for WLS in the win.

Tri-Village 6, Preble Shawnee 5: Christian Ricker led off the bottom of the seventh with a double then scored the winning run on a sac-fly from Jonny Wilson.

Tri-Village 11, Preble Shawnee 1: Jonny Wilson paced TV in the second game, going 3-for-4 with a double, triple and four RBI.

New Bremen 4, Franklin Monroe 3: FM tied the game up at three in the top of the seventh but New Bremen answered in the bottom of the frame with the game-winning run.

St. Henry 1, Covington 0: Dylon Lange struck out ten and carried a no-hit bid into the final inning for St. Henry. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth Parker Link lined a single to bring in the game-winning run.

Boys Volleyball

Beavercreek picked up 2-0 wins over Stow-Monroe and Pickerington North on Saturday. Parker Mikesch had nine kills in each match and also tallied seven aces, two blocks and five digs.
