Relive the Reds’ nine-run second inning against Cubs

The Reds broke out the bats against Cubs starter Jon Lester.

Cincinnati put up nine runs on Lester in the second inning. It was the most they’ve scored in a frame since scoring 10 in the sixth inning of a 12-5 win over the Tigers on Aug. 24, 2015.

From Joey Votto’s homer to Phillip Ervin’s broken bat single to Jose Peraza’s hit bouncing off Jon Jay, the Reds’ offense had quite an inning (and day).

Cincinnati went on to win 13-10.
