Ohio State’s Johnson: ‘We have trained for this moment’

Former Penn State assistant coach speaks at Skull Session

There was little doubt who would be the featured speaker at Ohio State's Skull Session before the game against Penn State on Saturday.

GAME PREVIEW: Five storylines to watch

“We saved this guy for this game,” head coach Urban Meyer said at St. John Arena. “He’s a highly-motivated football coach.”

Meyer then introduced defensive line coach Larry Johnson, who coached at Penn State from 1996-2013. He was the defensive line coach for most of those years. The game between No. 2 Penn State and No. 6 Ohio State means something extra to him.

TV GUIDE: Where to watch the games this weekend

“Three hundred and 71 days ago, we walked out of Happy Valley,” said Johnson, referencing a 24-21 loss last season. “Today Happy Valley walks into the Horseshoe. We have trained for this moment. Standing behind me are not just your ordinary football players, but they are elite football players we call fierce competitors. That means we know what it takes to be the best. I challenge you today to stand on your feet, to shout, to yell until this team takes 1 second off the block and the Buckeyes are victorious.”
