Ohio State football: Buckeyes move back into College Football Playoff top 10

Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer insisted there would be no talk about the College Football Playoff this week inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility, but the CFP committee released its updated rankings anyway.

The Buckeyes are ranked ninth this week after being No. 13 a week earlier.

Ahead of Ohio State are No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 3 Miami (Fla.), No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 5 Wisconsin, No. 6 Auburn, No. 7 Georgia and No. 8 Notre Dame.

Penn State is ranked 10th.

Despite being obliterated by Ohio State last week, Michigan State still ranked 17th.

Michigan is 24th, one spot behind Northwestern.

The Buckeyes play Illinois on Saturday before traveling to Michigan next week.

Wisconsin has already clinched a spot in the Big Ten championship game, and Ohio State could do the same this weekend.
