Ohio State explains why Urban Meyer’s weekly press conference was canceled

Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer typically meets with local media in Columbus on Monday mornings, but that appearance was canceled this week.

A school spokesperson explained the schedule had to be altered because Meyer is out of town to be with a current player who has a family member going through a serious health issue.

The player was not identified.

Meyer is scheduled to next speak with the media Tuesday afternoon via the weekly Big Ten coaches teleconference.

He is also set to take part in his usual Wednesday night session with the local press.

The Buckeyes have won four games in a row after trouncing Maryland on Saturday.

Ohio State’s next game is Saturday night at Nebraska.
