HS Highlights for Oct. 18: CBC releases All-League awards

Alex Arevalos of Tecumseh and Jared Nicol of Ben Logan were named the boys soccer players of the year by the Central Buckeye Conference.

The CBC announced the All-League awards for fall sports on Tuesday.

Hannah Ryan (Springfield Shawnee) and Kaliyah Fulton (Greenon) received player of the year honors in girls soccer.

In girls volleyball Hunter Rogan (Urbana), Bri Frazier (Ben Logan) and Carly Carafa (Graham) earned player of the year honors.

Arian McNeil (Greenon) was the girls tennis player of the year.

For boys Justin Clayton (Bellefontaine) and Max Pettit (Greenon) were selected and for girls Morgan Huggins (Springfield Shawnee) and Kassidy Carpenter (Northwestern) were tabbed as runners of the year in cross country.

Boys Soccer

Belmont 6, Ponitz 0: Brayn Nicolas Parra Ramirez and Ahmed Seid each scored twice as Belmont (8-0-1) completed an unbeaten run in the City League.

Sectional Tournament

Temple Christian 5, New Knoxville 1: Cameron Worsham scored three goals, Seth Ward had a goal and an assist and Taran Zwiebel added the final score for Temple Christian. Joseph Baende netted New Knoxville's score.

Beavercreek 7, Franklin 0: Marcella Cash and Diana Benigno had two goals apiece and Beavercreek (12-2-3) also got scores from Tieman McKitrick, Ally Applin and Marissa Ashbrook.

Bellbrook 9, Stivers 0: Bailey Sedlak scored twice, Natalie Stein had a goal and an assist and Audrey Spirk added two assists for Bellbrook.

Bethel 1, Northwestern 0: Gabby Behr knocked in the lone goal off an assist from Erica Turner and keeper Kelsey Hackney recorded the shutout for Bethel (8-5-4).

Chaminade Julienne 4, Oakwood 0: Jasmine Hughes paced CJ (8-7-2) with 2 goals and an assist and Kiara DiLoretto and Caroline Eifert each added a goal.

Monroe 8, Clinton-Massie 1: Ashlynn Yarretts put Monroe (13-2-2) on the board and Tara Morris and Kailey Ivins each chipped in two goals.

Northeastern 2, National Trail 0: Rylie McCorkle scored both goals off assists from Karen Kinder and Megan Davis. Keeper Kalie Grow notched seven saves in the shutout.

Sidney 3, Fairmont 1: Elaine Wiesenmayer put in two goals and Emily Wiesenmayer added the third for Sidney (11-4-2). Keeper Carly Dean recorded 12 saves.

Girls Volleyball

Midwest Athletic Conference Awards: Paige Jones of New Bremen was selected as the MAC player of the year. Erica Schulze of Marion Local and Kenzie Bruggeman of Versailles were picked as co-coaches of year after their teams split for the league title.

Sectional Tournament

Bellbrook 3, Monroe 0: Abby Crotty led Bellbrook (22-2) with 15 kills, 16 assists and 9 digs. The Eagles will face Alter on Saturday in a Division II sectional final.

Catholic Central 3, Cedarville 1: Sara Beste paced Cedarville with 15 kills, 12 digs and 8 blocks.

Xenia 3, Springfield 1: Naomi Hoofkin tallied 15 kills with 3 aces and Ashleigh Smith added 16 assists with 6 kills for Springfield.
