The Cincinnati Reds announced this week they have added six players to their 40-man roster.

Alex Blandino, Shed Long, Jose Lopez, Jesus Reyes, Jose Siri and Zach Weiss are now protected from being selected in the Rule 5 draft on Dec. 14.

Siri and Long are among the top 10 prospects in the organization according to Baseball America.

An outfielder from the Dominican Republic, Siri had a breakout season in Dayton in 2017 when he hit .293 with 24 homers and 76 RBIs. He also had a Midwest League-record 39-game hitting streak.

Long, an Alabama native, starred in Dayton in 2016 and split last season between Daytona (advanced A) and Pensacola (Double-A) as a second baseman.

Blandino is another infielder and a former first-round pick who hasn’t quite put it together. He hit a combined .265 with 12 homers and 51 RBIs between Pensacola and Triple-A Louisville last season.

Lopez, Reyes and Weiss are all right-handed pitchers who pitched in Daytona and Pensacola last season.
