Whitney Wyckoff is among the top performers this season for Yale University’s women’s basketball team.
The senior guard and Lakota East High School graduate leads the Bulldogs in rebounds (5.9) and assists (2.9) per game, ranking second in scoring (10.1) and steals (1.6).
Wyckoff is shooting 70.3 percent from the free-throw line for Yale, which is 11-8 overall and 2-0 in the Ivy League. The Bulldogs travel to Penn on Friday at 7 p.m.
• Freshman guard Adrianna Moore (Preble Shawnee) has made eight starts for Indiana East and is averaging 4.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Moore is shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and 72.7 percent from the charity stripe for the Red Wolves, who are 12-9 overall and 7-2 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
IU East visits Ohio Christian on Thursday at 6 p.m.
Wrestling: Sophomore Jimmy Sandlin (Carlisle) has a 7-2 record this season for Baldwin Wallace, collecting one technical fall and one fall.
The Yellow Jackets will travel to Wheaton (Ill.) for the Pete Willson Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Women’s indoor track & field: Ohio senior Hayley Stegemiller (Lebanon) won the 800 meters (2:16.25) and was part of a victorious 1,600 relay unit (3:58.28) last Saturday at the Spire North Coast Open in Geneva.
Junior Anna Michael (Lebanon) placed second for the Bobcats in the long jump (5.05 meters).
Ohio will travel to Huntington, W.Va., for Marshall’s Thundering Herd Open on Friday and Saturday.
• Sophomore Elizabeth Shumate (Ross) had a pair of Top 10 finishes for Mount St. Joseph last Saturday at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational.
Shumate finished fourth in the high jump (1.47 meters) and 10th in the long jump (4.54 meters).
The Lions will be back in action Feb. 5 at the Cedarville Collegiate Indoor meet.
