College Insider: Fenwick’s Davis at QB helm for Youngstown State

Junior quarterback Ricky Davis has started six games and thrown for 864 yards this season for the Youngstown State University football team.

The Fenwick High School graduate is 55 of 106 with five touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s also the team’s third-leading rusher with 340 yards on 83 carries.

The Penguins are 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. They will host Indiana State for homecoming on Saturday at 4 p.m.

• Sophomore linebacker Elijah Scott (Fairfield) has five solo tackles and two assists for Mount Union, the top-ranked Division III squad in the country.

Scott also has two tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Raiders, who are 7-0 overall and 6-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Mount Union travels to Otterbein on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Women's soccer: Senior defender Michelle Brunswick (Madison) has three goals and sophomore defender Missy Bernhardt (Fairfield) has one for Wittenberg.

Bernhardt has started every game, while Brunswick has made 12 starts.

The Tigers are 10-3-2 overall and 5-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. They will resume conference play at Denison on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

• Senior forward/midfielder Meghan Blank (Fenwick) is tied for third in points for Dayton, totaling five on two goals and one assist.

The Flyers are 5-8-3 overall and 3-3-2 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. They will visit Duquesne on Thursday at 7 p.m.

Volleyball: Redshirt junior setter Ashley Evans (Lakota East) has a team-leading 861 assists and 21 service aces for Purdue.

Evans has added 174 digs, 73 kills and 34 total blocks for the Boilermakers, who are 13-8 overall and 7-5 in the Big Ten Conference.

Purdue hosts Michigan on Friday at 7 p.m.
