Middletown grad, Chicago Cub Kyle Schwarber to miss rest of season

Middletown High School graduate Kyle Schwarber will miss the rest of the 2016 season, the Chicago Cubs announced Friday.

Schwarber suffered ACL and LCL tears in his left knee, according to multiple reports on Twitter, in an outfield collision Thursday with Dexter Fowler in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Initial reports indicated Schwarber suffered a sprained ankle. An MRI revealed the knee injury.

Schwarber made his big league debut a season ago for the Cubs and hit .246 in 29 games.
