Badin’s Smith commits to DePauw for soccer

Badin High School senior Maddie Smith will continue her academic and soccer careers at DePauw University, an NCAA Division III school in Greencastle, Ind.

Smith, a starting midfielder for the Rams, plans to major in psychology at DePauw and is considering a master’s degree in special education.

She is the fourth player on the 2016 Badin roster to commit to play at the next level. Senior goalkeepers Abby Lampe (Ashland) and Nicole Visse (Indiana-East), along with sophomore midfielder Macy Harper (Xavier), are the others.

“I’m so excited,” Smith said. “It (recruiting) has been a marathon. It’s nice to have it done.”

Said Rams coach Todd Berkely, “I’m really happy for Maddie. She’s been determined to accomplish her goal of playing soccer at the next level and now at DePauw she can show the world what she can do.”
