HAMILTON — Senior prom is one of the top memories of one's high school years, says one Fairfield woman.
"You are not going to remember sitting in geometry class on Sept. 29 but, if you went to prom, you are going to remember," said Lauren Rosenberger, a Badin High School graduate.
The 22-year-old wants to make sure that foster children have those memories, too, and is raising money to make that happen through the Sparkle-N-Shine Benefits Formal Fashion scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, March 15, at Badin High School.
Students from Badin and other Butler County schools will model prom dresses and tuxedos from local businesses that can be purchased at the show. Booths featuring local salons, bakeries, jewelers and children's services also be at the event.
"We are thrilled to host them in our school building," said Angie Gray, Badin development director, who said Rosenberger "is very enthusiastic and has put her heart and soul into this event."
Rosenberger said she is hoping to raise enough in donations to give each Butler County long-term foster child a package that includes everything he or she will need for prom — a dress or tuxedo — shoes, handbags, jewelry, makeup, flowers and hair accessories.
"I really want them to have a special day to shine," she said. "I went to prom and it's just a special day. That's your big to-do before you graduate."
Cost is $15 per ticket for regular seating and $25 for VIP seating. Donations may be made at any Fifth Third Bank. For more information, visit www.ebffc.org.
