Jeff See's first chance at making the Olympics has arrived.
The 2005 Middletown High School graduate and Ohio State sophomore will compete tonight, July 3, in the quarterfinals of the 1,500 meters at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Ore.
The top six times in each of three heats, plus the next six best times will advance to Friday's semifinal race. There are 10 runners in each heat. See runs in the second heat.
See's seed time in the event is 3 minutes, 40.76 seconds, which is a little more than 10 seconds off the top mark. The two-time All-American distance runner ran that Olympic trials qualifying time in the Saturn Midwest Distance Solutions High-Performance qualifying event June 7 at Hillsdale College in Michigan.
While at MHS, See won a combined six individual track and cross country state championships.
For anyone wishing to watch See compete, the Olympic trials will be broadcast from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. tonight on USA, which is Channel 33 in Middletown.
