MUM names 2008 scholar-athletes

MIDDLETOWN — Miami University Middletown student athletes Kyle Gaston and Alisha Pogue have been named recipients of the 2008 C. Eugene Bennett Scholar-Athlete Award.

Gaston, a junior special education major from Middletown, is a member of the MUM tennis team. He earned Academic All-Conference honors this year with a cumulative 3.5 grade-point average. He is the son of David and Beth Gaston of Middletown.

Pogue, a freshman pre-nursing major from Middletown, is a member of the MUM volleyball team. She earned Academic All-Conference honors this year and currently has a cumulative GPA of 3.88. She is the daughter of Daryl and Karen Pogue of Middletown.

The C. Eugene Bennett Award, named in honor of the school's first executive director, is presented annually to the male and female student athletes with the highest grade-point average for the academic year.
