‘Who are they protesting for?’

... Medical insurance companies and gambling casinos both “earn” their income on the need, fear, and ultimate misery of their customers.

Well, this year, my insurance company and I got lucky. On March 13, I was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. On April 6, I started on an intensive regimen of chemotherapy. ... I lasted four weeks and a day before being admitted to Fort Hamilton Hospital to see if they could save me from the final side effect of treatment — death. They did an exemplary job.

After a week in isolation, a week in ICU, and a week of recovery, I was back home. After another few weeks, I went to Jewish Hospital for major surgery to remove the tumor and rebuild the affected areas. My care there was professional and compassionate.

I am now in post-operative chemotherapy, and am finally and hopefully ending treatment.

How is this lucky? I am retired, on Social Security, and this year my wife and I turned 65. Hooray for Medicare (socialized medicine). This year, our out-of-pocket medical expenses will approach $30,000. My insurance company will be out $50,000 to $100,000, but they got to bail out in September. Now my deductibles and co-pays will be much lower because of Medicare.

Now, I have to ask those poor benighted, disgruntled “Tea Party” types to examine their own situations. How many weeks, months or years of major medical treatment can they withstand (financially)? They might even have to sell their Beanie Babies and guns, (and) maybe even those gold coins secreted under the floorboards. Who are they protesting for? ... Eventually they will have to rely on society (socialism) to help them. ...

I wish my fellow pilgrims through the medical system well. May they realize the goals of a quality life after treatment or a dignified passage from this life to whatever is next.

I am glad you are enjoying a mediacare. The funds for mediacare probably wasn't taken out of your paycheck, but is is mine. Fair enough. This administration wants to steal our grandchildren's money to push their big government globalism, that is unacceptable and should be by every American, with the exception of "progressives" that do not care whose money it is as long it is for their agenda.

I love America and I know that we are being hood-winked! Approximately 5 votes short of failing that vote in the House! That tells me we have some wonderful democrats that realized something is wrong with that bill! So it passed in the House. Let's hope and pray it does not pass in the Senate. How can we possibly give up our freedom so easily with this socialist healthcare bill?! The Administration is up to no good. They know that the healthcare industry is 1/6 of our economy. We must say NO!

Mr. Savany: I am not calling people names for not agreeing with me. Obama is, indeed, a marxist and a socialist. He has risen from corruption out of Chicago. The healthcare bill absolutely is constructed as a socialist agenda. It controls the people/patients, the insurance, the doctors, the nurses, the hospitals and the medication. It fines us if we choose to participate in no insurance. I am not opposed to healthcare reform in a reasonable manner. This bill is not even American!

Gee, right again! Must be. Old Anon jumped out of his walker and called me a hypocrite again. Ever predictable is Anon. Can not find one thing wrong in anything I say but rushes ever onward in saying I have no right to say it. Let's get this straight: Idiots are calling our president a marxist, a communist, a killer of grannies and whatever else people like Anon like to hear.Mr. Taulbee wants to hear those lies. So do you. And people who laugh with you. Thank God people who love America, don't.
