‘What are we teaching our sons?’

I have two beautiful sons whom I love and cherish very much. Daniel is 20 and David is 15. Both are just learning and getting their feet wet on what it takes to become a man in today’s society.

I guess you’re wondering what this has to do with anything. ... My question to you is: Why are so many young ladies getting hit and beat on by the young men of today?

When did it become a manly thing to beat up your girlfriend, wife, ex-girlfriend or ex-wife? When did it become acceptable? What are we teaching our sons?

My sons know that, if they lay hands on a young lady, they need not worry about the court systems, God or whoever; they have to deal with me.

What has happened to the values that I and others my age (51) were taught? ...

We must teach our sons that they never have the right to grab a lady in anger or — God forbid — ever strike a young lady — period. And (they should) stick up for someone who is being attacked or forced into something our sons know is wrong. If our sons do not protect your daughters, who is going to?
