As a staff member of the YWCA Dove House, operating two protective shelters and providing related services in Butler County for domestic violence victims and their families, I want to commend the Hamilton JournalNews for your timely and excellent editorial about Butler County United Way.
I admit a vested interest: YWCA Dove House, where I am employed, receives vital funding from United Way, and would not be able to continue our work of saving lives and protecting victims without United Way. I am also a Butler County resident, and as such I know that Dove House will continue its contribution to the safety and security of the entire community, partnered with Butler County United Way.
Many of the clients served by the YWCA also benefit from other programs in the community that are funded by Butler County United Way. No one agency or program can meet all needs for all people in need. However, United Way is the linchpin that binds varied agencies together to create a safety net of services. Without this United Way safety net, there would be no help, and thus no hope, for many of our neighbors.
United Way depends on our support and our donations to keep hope alive in our community.
