Take off your hat, lady

Hats off to (the Greater Hamilton) Civic Theatre’s marvelous production of “Always Patsy Cline” at Garfield’s auditorium on June 28, but the same can’t be said for the rude red-hat member who refused to take off her wide-brimmed, feathered hat. Thumbs down to this type of community behavior.

To all the people talking about how the police and fire departments should be cut the same as other departments: First, the people from those other departments are not out saving lives. They can be cut back some, but our fire and police departments are definitely needed. If you had a police scanner on June 25, you heard all the calls — fires, lightning strikes, flooding — and these poor people were out working in that storm. And people think it is OK to cut their wages? I would like to have seen what they would have done in these storms. They are doing a heck of a job and should be praised, instead of (people) trying to cut them down. ...

I think I have a great idea for the city of Hamilton to help its financial crisis. It would be to start selling portable generators because of how unreliable the electric system has become. I can think of about 30,000 customers who would want to buy one. The extra income could be used to fix streets, hire additional police or promote some more incompetent people in the electric department. Enough is enough.

Andy, each fire house stops at the grocery to pick up their food for the next 24 hours. It used to bother me too, until I grew up and figured it didn't hurt ONE THING. At least they pay for their own food. We don't have eight fire-houses, so I doubt it if they stop eight times unless they get called to a run in the middle of shopping and have to go back.

Of all the things wrong in the city, lets focus on important things.

I would guess the guy who wrote this comment on the electric department has been on a pole in a lightning storm? Maybe he can talk to the the Big Guy and get the storms diverted or the lightning not to strike? Doubtful..... Fact is these electric workers put their lives on the line everyday just like others in the City. Check it out and you'll find line workers are consistently in the most dangerous jobs in the USA. Take your negativity somewhere else.

I still don't understand why the firedepartments needs to make 8 stops a day to the grocery store.
