An open letter to House Minority Leader John Boehner:
The health care system in the U.S. is badly broken, with tens of millions of hardworking Americans excluded from essential coverage by the insurance companies.
Your acceptance of a total of some $1.5 million in campaign contributions and other assistance from the health care industry is absolutely unconscionable.
Additionally, your statement to the nation during the president’s health summit that “the U.S. has the best health care in the world” is simply not true.
In “avoidable mortality,” the Commonwealth Fund ranks the U.S. at 15th. In its “Disability-Adjusted Life Expectancy,” the WHO ranks the U.S. 24th. The U.S. Academy of Medicine ranks it 28th. Are you uninformed?
Stop insulting our intelligence. You are representing the insurance industry and not the voters of Butler County and the 8th District.
I urge you in the strongest terms to stop being an obstructionist and to support the health care reform which your constituents need so badly.
