‘Protecting haters’

This letter is addressed to the drivel that I read in the Community Voice on Oct. 27 regarding gays in the military. First, I am questioning the use of my time by responding to an anonymous Community Voice statement, but this one was so out of the realm of where we are (or should be) in this country today, that I am compelled to reply.

I was appalled to see the hatred (supposedly from a religious person) contained in the call. The caller “would do everything to stop his or her son from joining the military.” Well, let me clue you in: You and your country have been protected for eons by both gays and straights serving in the military. Not only do our gay men and women risk their lives to serve their country, they do not question whether they are protecting haters like you or those who support them.

In addition, you and your children have, in all probability, been taught by or treated medically by a gay individual. They are your teachers, your physicians, your pharmacists, your ministers, etc.

The final statement, “nobody who has the right religion wants to be around gays” is almost laughable, if not so sad. What is the “right” religion? Is it the religion that condones hatred and bigotry towards one’s fellow man? Is it the religion that welcomes only straight people, rather than all of God’s children?

I am sure that the Hamilton JournalNews believes that they are serving a purpose by giving people an anonymous outlet for expression. I can agree up to a point, but cannot see how the call that I refer to serves any useful purpose, other than the spewing of vitriol.

Savanation says that being full of hate and self-righteousness is a sin, yet his history of "teachings" here suggest it doesn't apply to him.

The Bible is clear about homosexual behavior. Parsing words or taking portions out of context will not change that. If someone equates the homosexual lifestyle and agenda with heterosexual relationships and marriage, that is free will, but it doesn't make it right. Laws and referendums do not alter the Word of God, and if one does not recognize God, then that is also free will. Our nation was founded upon Judeo-Christian principles, and thus we can openly discuss this issue.
Thank you, God.

Jim - sav doesn't have the brains God gave a goose - the only thing he does is regurgitate what the Blessed One and his minions feed him. If his poor little brain did try to have an actual thought of its own it would overheat like a Yugo trying to tow a locomotive up a hill.

CHILD OF GOD, you have that quote wrong.

Interestingly, Leviticus forbids the wearing of clothing made from mixed fibers (better throw out all your cotton/poly T-shirts), the eating of shellfish, eating pigs (no bacon!), that you can posses slaves as long as they are purchased from neighboring nations, and sell your daughter into slavery, among other things.

Quoting that one verse from Leviticus is cherry-picking. What do you think about all the other restrictions mentioned?

No attempt to turn this into the war of opinions that the gay agenda requires will change the fact that God has spoken on the subject. People who want to fight one opinion with another will always come to a stalemate. We don't need to judge others. We don't need others to judge us. We already have a Judge. People need to listen to Him and stop trying to convince others that what He has said is a matter of opinion. It isn't, and no amount of srguing will change that.
