No incentive to find a job

Hot Topics

I have no qualms with helping out the unfortunate with a handout for a certain length of time, but I don’t expect to support them for the rest of their lives. Do you really believe people who live off the unemployment system will ever seek jobs, as long as they can sit on the sofa, watch TV with a six-pack, have their utilities paid for and food stamps delivered to the door? For them to get up at 6 a.m. — with a cold wind blowing in their face — to look for a job won’t happen. Not as long as they only have to walk across the room, and reach out the door to get their monthly paycheck. ... These people are living out of my billfold. I have to get up at 5:30 a.m. to punch a time card. I probably have less take-home pay than what they receive for not working. There is no incentive for these people to find a job. ...

Please put the TV channels back in the TV guide.

Are you people too cheap to put the NHL standings in the sports section? Come on, guys.

Concerning flu shots this year: As screwed up as everything has been with them, you can imagine how our health care would be when government takes it over.

Regarding the Oct. 29 editorial “Guns-layoffs link not appropriate”: As usual, Cox gets it all wrong again. There is no link that can be supported by any sort of data to prove that more guns equal more crime. In fact, all the evidence points wholly to the contrary. ...

Gun “control” doesn’t deter crime; it only makes criminals’ job easier and less risky. Police can’t prevent crime either, but they do apprehend and lock up the perps. ...

I am sorry to hear about Liz Taylor’s recent slide into severe hallucinations and dementia. The Michael Jackson film is the greatest film ever? Frankly, Liz, I don’t give a damn.

They say in the United States, we build the best. We can build anything and it works and lasts. It is funny how nobody can build a good computer in the United States. ... Yes, the more expensive ones last a little longer, but eventually they break. Why can’t they build a computer — like they build televisions — that lasts forever?

The speed limit was already 55 mph in the construction area on I-75 prior to the fatal accidents. It’s that people are too stupid to read the 55 mph signs, just like they are too stupid to know that a red light means “stop.”

The gas companies are gouging our eyes out again. I just beg everybody — do not drive unless it is absolutely necessary. Do not let them do this to us. We are tired of this abuse. Do something to help.

It is obvious that terrorists in Afghanistan have been emboldened by the fact that (Barack) Obama is in the White House. One thing they know is that Obama is too busy terrorizing us to do anything about them.

Hey you should be greatful you have a job! Jerk, Some of us are really trying, and guess what we've paid the same taxes you do. Why don't you go ahead and give your job to someone who doesn't complain so much. then you can try looking for a job with a fixed income, illness, and a few children that have special needs, all the while jumping through BCDJFS hoops, and dealing with the fact that every meal and each day that you have somewhere to live is a miracle! I pray for answers, for all of us.
