My blood was boiling

I agree wholeheartedly with Carol Reinhart (“What a farce,” Feb. 6 letters) when she points out the hypocrisy of schools disallowing President Obama’s encouraging speech while this school welcomes (John) Boehner’s partisan behavior. It made my blood boil to think he was instilling his negative, fearful, divisive message in these young, impressionable minds. But I was equally troubled that the Hamilton JournalNews saw fit to showcase his visit and his words to the rest of the community, giving them credibility in doing so. One more proof that living in a Republican-dominated area allows the positive affirming words of a Democrat to seem wrong, while the irresponsible speech of a Republican is held up as a model.

Regarding the Hamilton Police Department shooting range situation: It is just another example of the Hamilton Police Department infringing on our rights, instead of protecting them. ... They wonder why people don’t respect law enforcement (but it is) because they think the laws are for you and not for them.

I feel for the people who drive Toyotas. I always said — buy American. Thank goodness my wife and I both drive Fords.

(Barack) Obama’s proposed budget amounts to nothing more than generational theft. Democrat, Republican, liberal or conservative — I don’t know any member of Congress with any semblance of conscience who can stand there legitimately and vote for a bill like this — and pass it on to our children and grandchildren. Frankly, it’s unconscionable.

When is this country going to wake up and have a cabinet position of Secretary of Revenge, where we can get something done? It is terrible the shape this country is in.

Mr.Berkshire...you use the universal "we" as if all of the local people believe what you believe and have the political positions you have. There is a different "we" out there who don't resent having the duly elected President speak to children about getting a good education AND who do have a problem with the indoctrination of school children whether in a public or private setting. Attention should be paid to what happens when people no longer can understand issues from multiple viewpoints.

Positive affirming words of a democrat, she writes? Ha Ha Ha! The intent of the Obama Administration seems to be enlarging government, transferring the country over from private business to government control. This is not acceptable to me and I will block all efforts to do so. Rep. Boehner was invited to that classroom and I would have expected him to present himself as a republican. That is who he is. I would not want my child exposed to Obama on tv in a classroom as though we approve of him.

Unfortunately, too many see what they seek. And in your case Leigh that’s apparently what’s going on here as what you call righteous (?), ridiculous and foolish can easily be applied to what Obama frequently shares, especially the "Party of No". All sadly take some liberties with the truth to get heard, but his stretches it more as Dem’s no’s held him back and he now admits the GOP has offered ideas. Yet, your silence here suggests your okay with Obama’s which seems to prove my original point.
Dems Disagree Too

Dems...I am sure there has been divisiveness and rhetoric played by all. I see more dicussion among the Dems than among the Republicans. The resonance of the shrieking "death panels" and foolish "pulling the plug on Grandma" echoes across the nation. That is the righteous ridiculousness of which I speak. Just as Democrats don't have exclusivity on truth, the right doesn't have exclusivity of religion. Though he takes criticism for it, Obmama's actions on terror often parallel those of Bush.

Leigh, the left is equally as righteous and divisive...arguably more given its gov't role beliefs. And to suggest the Obama admin hasn’t deliberately played on fears, falsified info and incited divisiveness - to its own end, overlooks a great deal. Obama’s stimulus rhetoric - pass it or millions more jobs will be lost, we lost more; “jobs saved”; adding millions to health care will lower costs overall; and of late, his record on terror (http://tinyurl.com/y9se5vy) easily suggest they have too.
