20 hours in the dark

Once again there was another storm and again I had no power for at least 20 hours. I guess I should really thank the Hamilton utility department for saving me on the electric bill I’m going to get next month. After all, my next bill should be a lot smaller.

I want to thank the Hamilton police and fire departments. This recent storm showed that we need these people. Don’t lay them off. ... You need them, City Council. ... Lay off someone else.

There are weeds growing from the overhang of the building next to the beautifully restored Mercantile Building on High Street. The weeds are also a detraction from the restored building across High Street.

get a clue people! you are only charged for utilities you use so you can't be charged for electric that wasn't even used-- we are lucky to have a small local utility company that cares about the community-- i went without power for 36 hours but i also know the city had utility workers out working that whole time-- thank you city of hamilton for keeping it local--i'd hate to have to wait for out of state workers or call someone in india to find anything out-way to go city of hamilton!!!!

Maybe a tornado could wipe out that annoying scaffolding which has been cluttering up busy downtown Hamilton for ten years. That would be worth no lights for 20 hours.

It's sad to see people complain about 20 hours w/out electric. You can't control what the weather does or which community it hits. This guy would blame a tornado on city council. Get some basic life skills...god forbid an actual disaster would occur. Go a day without the TV and people break into a cold sweat.

Jim,

I don’t need to check with anyone. I remember driving out of Hamilton, and as soon as I drove into Fairfield the traffic lights worked and residents had their lights on. Hours later my lights would come on. I don’t know one resident of Fairfield or West Chester who went 20 hours with electricity. And, I would trade thousands, if that number is even true, with an entire city. The residents of Hamilton deserve the same quality of service that it’s neighbor’s posses.

I guess HamiltonResident should check with the thousands of Duke customers (that serves Fairfield) who were without power for even longer. The sapping of Hamiton's financial base by Fairfield and West Chester have long been known. But, when the lights go out, I would still rather know that Hamilton is getting the power back than that I will have to wait for days or weeks to get power back from Duke.
